Societies Addiction to Adreneline

Society has created a world where adrenaline is the drug of choice. Watching countless movies that pump up your adrenaline and cortisol levels, jumping out of a plane, riding rollercoasters, Disneyland, going to the casino, these are just a few examples. We have come to believe that these things make us happy when in fact they are putting us into fight or flight mode, pumping out tons of cortisol and turning us into adrenaline junkies. We are tricked into thinking that the things that bring us a “high” are real connections and authentic attachments. But they are the very opposite.

We need authentic connections for true happiness and these “highs” are unhealthy connections which turn into addictions and most of us don’t even know it. It is not in your face like drugs and alcohol. It is a hidden addiction created through your brain and the brain believes it is happiness.

This is not true happiness. Happiness is peaceful and calm. Happiness is when you stop and smell the flowers. But a lot of people miss the flowers because they don’t even recognize the flowers anymore because they are so conditioned by life’s extremes to fill them up. True happiness can almost seem boring because it is simple and gentle. But because we are subjected to such an excess of adrenaline climax’s, we can miss peaceful happiness when it is right in front of our faces.

Ask yourself, do you stop and smell the flowers?

Are you willing to look and become aware of your inauthentic attachments and connections?

If you knew these things were blocking you from happiness would you make a change?
